This book is a wonderful resource for educators and families. As a parent of dyslexic children, I am convinced that alternative learning opportunities are crucial for kids with learning differences. Children who have not had an easy time with school will particularly appreciate stories of inventors who, by definition, are people who tackle challenges in creative and unconventional ways. The well-documented references are also a great resource for home and classroom reading. The listings provide parents an opportunity to select unique and unusual books that appeal to reluctant readers. The cited references give teachers easy access to books that are great choices for oral literature classroom time (supporting and reinforcing the "Invention Friday" lessons). These references will also be useful for independent projects in which children learn more about a chosen inventor.
